Youth In Revolt is a comedy with nothing new to offer. It is an entertaining movie none-the-less. And that's rare. This film is based on a series of novels named..... you guessed it..... Youth In Revolt, or The Journals Of Nick Twisp. Typecast. That's exactly what Michael Cera is. He's good at what he does, though. Cera is always entertaining, and it has netted him a number of very good movies, and even a couple of not so good ones. Portia Doubleday makes her first lead appearance, and is funny. Then there are small parts from a number of actors I like: Fred Willard, Justin Long, Ray Liotta, Steve Buscemi, and Zach Galifanakis (those of you not familiar with Zach will know him as the bearded guy from The Hangover). It's funny enough, and the story is entertaining. It kept me in my seat and from getting bored. Not the comedy of the year, Youth In Revolt would have been successful if released a couple of other times of the year, and I think it is an above average movie for January.
