Cemented forever in the minds of teenage girls as the lovelorn Phil “Duckie” Dale in “Pretty in Pink” (1986), actor and writer Jon Cryer would years later, attain a new mature kind of fame as uptight divorcee Alan Harper in the hit sitcom “Two and a Half Men” (CBS, 2003-). His credits included several New York and Los Angeles stage appearances, as well as the cult series “The Famous Teddy Z” (CBS, 1989), the comedies “Hiding Out” (1987) and “Hot Shots!” (1991). He also penned a pair of screenplays for two independent features which he also produced – but he himself was well aware, that he was forever “Duckie” to a generation of kids who fell in love with his goofy, eccentric portrayal in one of the eighties most iconic films.
